Funeral Service for Joann Matouk Romain

Issued: March 26, 2010
Contact: Ned McGrath, infodesk@aod.org / (313) 237-5943

The funeral service for Joann Matouk Romain, the 55-year-old woman from Grosse Pointe Woods who drowned in the Detroit River, will be held at noon on Saturday, March 27, at St. Paul on the Lake Church, 157 Lake Shore Road in Grosse Pointe Farms. Visitation will take place for a half-hour preceding the service. Fr. John Wynnycky, associate pastor, will preside at the funeral.

The Archdiocesan Department of Communications relays a request from the parish, that no recording devices—video, audio, or still photography—be allowed inside the church building at any time before, during or following the funeral service. Interviews may be conducted outside the building, in the church parking lot.

Note to editors/assignment desks: Reporters and crews covering this story are reminded of the solemnity of this occasion and are asked to heed the instructions of ushers, funeral directors and church personnel while on parish property, and to be sensitive in what is a difficult time for those in attendance. They are asked to respect the privacy of the family and their need for personal space.
