Protecting God's Children Opening Prayer

Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation,
whose goodness fills our hearts with joy
and who gave us dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and all the living things that move on earth.

Blessed are you,
who has brought us together this day
to work as one for healing, peace and harmony.

Blessed are you,
who has created us all in your image and likeness and sends us to assist our sisters and brothers
who have greater needs than our own,
especially those who are the most vulnerable:
the children, the elderly, and those living with disabilities.

We pray that in our common sharing, we may always
see you in one another and we may always see one another
as sisters and brothers.

May we see You in those we meet and those we serve.

May we see You in the faces of our families and friends,
who give so much of their lives and love to us.

May we see You, the Lord of Life,
in the created world which surrounds us,
in our conversation and in our lives shared in a common oneness.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.
