SHMS offers a variety of financial aid options to assist in meeting the needs and educational goals of students.
Catechetical Leaders Award (ACE)
Awards a percentage of undergraduate and graduate tuition for students in catechetical ministry at a parish within the Archdiocese of Detroit. Completed authorization form is required each term of registration and must coincide with the parish ministry. Completed forms are to be sent to the Financial Aid Office of Sacred Heart Major Seminary at the beginning of each term. For more information, call 313-883-8534.
Parish Empowerment Fund Scholarship (PEF)
The purpose of the Parish Empowerment Fund (PEF) scholarship program is to provide tuition assistance for eligible lay people who are interested in attending Sacred Heart Major Seminary. PEF provides scholarships to laity only, and cannot pay tuition for vowed religious, permanent deacons, or priests. Applicants must be practicing Roman Catholics working as volunteers or paid staff in a city, suburban, or rural parish that meets the criteria of the Fund. Applications are available only once annually, usually every June-July. If you received a PEF scholarship last, year and wish to be reconsidered, you must reapply. Pastoral Ministry Grant Application
Through the Archdiocese of Detroit Endowment Foundation, this grant provides tuition assistance to eligible individuals attending approved Catholic institutions for study in pastoral ministry certification. This grant is open to Catholic men and women without regard to race, ethnic origin, disability or age. Applicants should contact the Archdiocese Department of Development at (313) 883-8657.
