Eight Men Ordained as Transitional Deacons
Eight seminarians from the Archdiocese of Detroit were ordained as transitional deacons on December 11, 2003. Bishop John Quinn presided over the ceremony held in the seminary's main chapel. Rev. Mssrs. Aaron DePeyster, Richard Lewnau, James Lopez, Todd Mistor, Siosi Patau, James Smalarz, Christopher Talbot and Paul Ward will serve the Church by proclaiming the Gospel and assisting at the altar.
While finishing their last semester of studies, these men, along with classmates from other dioceses who are also deacons, are assigned to various parishes to assist at weekend liturgies in preparation for ordination to the priesthood in May. During the week, they assist at liturgies at the seminary, as well as preside at the recitation of the Divine Office and exposition/adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
