CHSL Director, Vic Michaels, wins MHSAA Al Bush Award
The Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) has awarded the prestigious 28th Annual Allen W. Bush Award to Vic Michaels, director of the Detroit Catholic High School League (CHSL). Michaels stated, “I’m honored to receive an award named after Al Bush. He meant so much to the advancement of athletic programs in public and non-public schools in the MHSAA while serving as the Executive Director [of the MHSAA]”. Michaels has served as CHSL director since 2003 and currently serves on MHSAA Representative Council.
The CHSL was founded in 1926. It conducts championships in 14 boys and 16 girls’ sports in some of Metro Detroit's premier venues including Comerica Park, Ford Field and the University of Detroit- Mercy. The CHSL currently serves 27 member high schools comprising 22 Catholic schools, 1 Lutheran schools , 3 private schools and 1 Jewish school.
