School of the Year

The James Leary School of the Year Award was created in 1980 in honor of the late coach and athletic director at the University of Detroit High School. Leary also served several terms on the Catholic League’s Executive Athletic Board. This award is presented annually to the league school that best exemplifies spirit, sportsmanship and cooperation.
