Aug 20, 2025

The Catholic High School League girls' swimming and diving season returns with high expectations after an impressive 2024 campaign capped by championship performances at both the league and state levels. Farmington Hills Mercy not only claimed the CHSL Bishop Championship but went on to capture the MHSAA Division 2 state title, reaffirming their place among Michigan’s elite programs. Bloomfield Hills Marian also shined on the state stage, finishing as the MHSAA Division 3 runner-up.

Mercy brings back a deep and versatile lineup led by state qualifiers and league champions, including Avery Tack, Violet Schwartz, Ella Hafner, and Teagan Shelly in the pool, along with standout diver Sophia D’Orazio. Their balance across sprint, distance, and relay events makes them the team to beat once again.

Marian returns plenty of firepower as well, with a mix of seasoned veterans and rising stars who excel in both individual and relay events. After pushing for a state title last fall, the Mustangs will be hungry to build on their runner-up finish.

Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood, University Liggett, Dearborn Divine Child, and Ann Arbor Greenhills also bring back strong rosters, each looking to challenge for the CHSL championship. The 2024 CHSL Championships showcased the league’s depth, with swimmers and divers from multiple schools earning state qualifying marks.

With defending state champion Mercy and Division 3 runner-up Marian leading the charge, the 2025 CHSL girls swimming and diving season promises high-level performances, exciting rivalries, and another year of the league making waves on both the conference and state stages.
