Boys Soccer Championships Set

The Catholic High School League will crown two boys soccer champions on Thursday, October 8, when the Cardinal and Bishop Championship games take center stage at Oakland University.

The championship doubleheader begins at 5 p.m. with the Cardinal Championship, followed by the Bishop Championship at 7 p.m.

Cardinal Championship

5 p.m. – Everest Collegiate vs. University Liggett

Everest Collegiate and University Liggett will open the evening with the Cardinal Championship on the line.

Liggett returns to familiar territory as the defending Cardinal champion, having defeated Shrine, 4-2, in the 2025 championship match. The Knights have enjoyed an impressive run in the CHSL tournament, also winning Cardinal championships in 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Everest Collegiate will look to add its name to the list of CHSL boys soccer champions and deny Liggett a second consecutive title.

Bishop Championship

7 p.m. – St. Mary’s Prep vs. St. Francis de Sales

The nightcap features St. Mary’s Prep against St. Francis de Sales for the Bishop Championship.

St. Francis de Sales is just two years removed from a CHSL title. The Knights captured the 2024 Bishop Championship with a 3-0 victory over Lutheran North.

St. Mary’s Prep also has championship history in the league. The Eaglets won the former C-D championship in 2014 and 2015 and advanced to the Bishop Championship match in 2023.

Thursday’s championship doubleheader continues the CHSL’s long tradition of boys soccer excellence during the league’s Centennial season.
