The championship game was a back-and-forth battle between two of the league’s top squads. St. Francis struck early with a pair of first-period goals, but the Shamrocks battled back behind balanced scoring and relentless effort. Catholic Central tied the game in the second period and later took the lead when Lucas Szmagaj buried the game-winning rebound with just over six minutes remaining — his second goal of the night and the decisive tally in a classic finish. Senior captain Jack Dorgan ’26 reflected on the team’s success, emphasizing the importance of culture and preparation: “Our motto this year is ‘redefine the standard’ — it’s about focusing on the process more than the outcome. We know our end goal, but what matters most is showing up the right way every single day.” (Detroit Catholic Central High School)
